The Venta de Borondo is a historic inn located between Bolaños de Calatrava and Manzanares, in the province of Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha. Built in the 16th century, this inn is known for its typical period architecture, with a rectangular floor plan, two floors, a turret on one corner, and a central courtyard.

It is believed that the Venta de Borondo may have inspired Miguel de Cervantes in his work "Don Quixote de la Mancha," as these inns were common during long voyages of the time. Currently, the inn is used as a farmhouse and second home.

Located 3 km from the town of Bolaños is the Venta de Borondo. Cervantes was inspired by it for Don Quixote, associating himself with the moment in which he is knighted. It is one of the few examples of popular architecture from the 16th century that is still preserved. It is located on the old royal road that linked Extremadura with Levante.

La Venta is a farmhouse that was deteriorating a lot. It is within the municipal term of Daimiel reaching the limit with that of Bolaños. The property is owned by fourteen Bolaños heirs. The great news of June 2022 is that a unanimous agreement has been reached by which all the municipal groups of the Daimiel City Council have just approved in plenary session to accept the "pure donation" of the fourteen heirs and that it becomes of municipal public ownership, in exchange for being responsible for maintaining it.

The City Council of Daimiel is thus committed to safeguarding the Artistic Historical Heritage of the Venta de Borondo and will proceed with its maintenance.

It is the last Cervantes sale in the community and shares this BIC cataloging with only one other.
