The "Kviknes Hotel", a large, white-painted Art Nouveau building, dominates the town centre. It is Norway's oldest hotel and the largest bath-style wooden building in Northern Europe. Kaiser Wilhelm II and other illustrious guests liked to relax here at the beginning of the 20th century. The building is beautifully situated right on the shore of the Sognefjord with a magnificent view south across the water.

Even Kaiser Wilhelm II spent the night here. But one thing is certain: the ugly concrete block from an extension behind this beautiful wooden building was not finished yet. Still a great building.
