Tips
The monastery, dedicated to the Holy Cross, was founded in 1673 by Christian and Ludwig von Hohenlohe and was first a hospice, and from 1687 a convent. It belonged to the Thuringian Franciscan Province (Thuringia) and was dissolved in 1822 as a result of secularization. The church and monastery building were preserved. The church became a parish church, the vicarage, the boys' school and a teacher's apartment were housed in the monastery buildings.
