The metal parts symbolize the modern dynamic society, the railway, commercial life, technology etc. The water, which runs down the column in 2 lanes, symbolizes the course of the river Skjern Å through the landscape towards Ringkøbing Fjord - the large, round basin, which forms the base of the sculpture.
Over the years, the sculpture gets more color:
The COR-TEN steel becomes rusty red, the bronze oxidizes and becomes greenish and the tombac brass keeps the black nuances.
