    Brehm-Ensemble in Renthendorf (Unterrenthendorf) - consisting of the former home of the Brehm family, the vicarage, the parish church, the parish barn and the former school (today a school camp); the exhibition is primarily devoted to the life and work of the two natural scientists Christian Ludwig Brehm (1787 - 1864) and his son Alfred Edmund Brehm (1829 - 1884);

    C. L. Brehm is one of the most important ornithologists of his time and is regarded as the discoverer of the native biodiversity of birds; his nickname "Vogelpastor" refers to his actual appointment as parish priest in Renthendorf between 1813 and his death in 1864;

    A. E. Brehm, the "animal father", took part in various expeditions before and after his scientific studies, e.g. to Africa, Lapland, Siberia part; as a zoologist and freelance writer, he has written numerous popular scientific articles and gives lectures; Appointed director of the newly opened zoological garden in Hamburg in 1863, the first editions of his main work, the "Illustrirtem Thierleben" (The Illustrated Life of Animals) were published at this time; 1869 founding director of the Berlin Aquarium Unter den Linden, in which a cross-section of the entire animal world on water, on land and in the air was shown on a 300 m long path in an environment that was as natural as possible;
