Arlington Ridge Park in Arlington, Virginia, offers sweeping views over the District of Columbia and is home to two significant memorials. The 27.5-acre site is part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway and features the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, dedicated in 1954, and the Netherlands Carillon, which was completed in 1960. The Marine Corps Memorial commemorates the Iwo Jima flag-raising and The Carillon, which was a gift from the Netherlands, is set in a plaza surrounded by ornamental trees.
