The cedar is a tree that comes from North Africa, in the Atlas Mountains. In Catalonia it is cultivated as an ornamental tree and more rarely in reforestation and forest plantations.
Can Valls cedar was planted in the 1920s. It is the largest cedar measured in the municipality of Sant Celoni. It escaped in November 2002, after strong winds that dropped the last 5 m of the main trunk.
