Great little castle which you can discover on the way through on the A3 near the Rohrbrunn rest area on the edge of the forest

Luitpoldshöhe Castle was built in 1889 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria as a hunting lodge in the Spessart near Rohrbrunn. The castle is in the district of Aschaffenburg in an area that belongs to the municipality of Weibersbrunn, but forms an exclave in the unincorporated area in the Rohrbrunn Forest. The Spessart motorway service station on the A3 is in the immediate vicinity, and the castle can be seen from the motorway. Not far from the castle in the forest is the Dianalust hunting lodge.

The castle was designed by the royal chief building officer Max von Siebert, who conceived it as a Franconian half-timbered house. The master builder was Karl Buchner from Würzburg, who employed only craftsmen and artists from Würzburg. On the one hand, this resulted in a building that was based on the local Franconian style, but on the other hand it can also be recognized as a representative building.
