The nature park, designated in 2005 and covering an area of 540 square kilometers, is characterized by deeply incised valleys on the Warnow, many lakes and extensive forests. The charming landscape of the Sternberger Seenland nature park is a small paradise for flora, fauna and people. Here you can meet the beaver in many places, which builds its stately castles on Warnow and the surrounding lakes, but otters, sea eagles and cranes are also at home here. Several species of orchids and other rare plants can be found in the nature reserves of the nature park, such as endangered salt-loving plant species that occur in the country's largest inland salt marsh near Sülten.
