Arbesbach Castle, the so-called Stockzahn of the Waldviertel, is the ruin of a high to late medieval hilltop castle, east of Purrath in the market town of Arbesbach in the Zwettl district. The Ferdinandwarte/Alexanderwarte (903m) is located near the Arbesbach castle ruins and offers an impressive view of the Alps.

This castle, built at the end of the 12th century, was destroyed around 1480 and not rebuilt. Today, the Alexanderwarte - an 18 m high viewing platform - is located on the remains of the former keep.

The key to the ruins is available from the Clemens Huber Bakery/Cafe, Arbesbach 27, telephone number 02813/237. The current entrance fee is EUR 2 for adults and EUR 1 for children.
