The church of Sant’Agostino in Bovolenta is also dedicated to San Gabriele dell’Addolorata, patron saint of Abruzzo, who became co-patron saint of Bovolenta. Since 1971, the church has been the Sanctuary of San Gabriele dell’Addolorata. It is perhaps the only church in the world, outside the sanctuary of Isola del Gran Sasso, in Abruzzo, that can boast such a title.
