The cows of the Eringer breed spend the summer on the alp and fight there for the ranking within the herd.
The Alpaufzug is a very special event every year. While the cattle spend the winter months in the stables, they go up to the alp in the summer, which is celebrated with colorful alp processions. On this occasion, the Herensers fight exciting duels, according to their nature, in order to establish the new hierarchy within the group. The cow that conquers all others becomes queen and leads the herd throughout the summer.
