The Spannorthütte SAC is located at 1,956 meters above sea level in the canton of Uri, Switzerland, at the foot of the Schlossberg and close to the peaks of Gross and Chli Spannort. The hut is accessible via a hiking trail from Engelberg, through the picturesque Surenental valley and following the Engelberger Aa river. The trail is approximately 10.9 km long with an elevation gain of 961 meters, and takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete.
The Spannorthütte is an ideal starting point for alpine hikes and climbing tours in the surrounding mountains. During the winter season, the hut is unattended and offers a winter cabin with 9 beds; however, there are no cooking or heating facilities, so you will need to bring your own camping stove.
It is advisable to check the weather and avalanche situation before starting the hike.
