The tree is absolutely awesome. The child is almost through with me and I wanted to crawl in ... laugh. I find it fascinating that this tree, as hollow as it is, is life in bloom. Very nice. I really enjoyed my break there on the bench under the massive trunk.

650 years old, 23 meters high and a trunk circumference of 6.55 meters – the old oak at the St. Gangolf estate in the municipality of Mettlach is probably the oldest tree in all of Saarland. That is why it is now to be named a 'national heritage tree'. These are given special protection and care so that they can age with dignity.
