The Säulingssee is a former lake in a subrosion depression between the districts of Kleinensee and Grossensee. The water bodies present in the area have remarkable occurrences of highly endangered, regionally lost or endangered aquatic plants. The area is completely surrounded by unused agricultural land, a surrounding ditch and has been a nature reserve since 1984.
For many years this location was a border area and difficult to access, today a beautiful path leads around the Säulingssee.

A nice NSG. "Seulingssee" (eu instead of äu) is written, but only marginally. :) One expects in vain a (larger) lake here, but there are some smaller ponds. The area was drained around 1760. In the meantime, however, a beautiful natural landscape with wetland(s) has formed again. The original Seulingssee was a lot larger than today's NSG.
The NSG is always worth a visit, a short tour around is worth it! But: stay on the path!!!
