The Wertach is a very beautiful river, which has now been renatured in the city of Augsburg, on whose banks you can make wonderful tours.
Personally, I think that on the right-hand side down the river (i.e. towards Augsburg to the confluence with the Lech) are the nicer and better-developed paths.
If you e.g. from Augsburg to Schwabmünchen, a detour to Großaitingen to the Gasthof zum Grünen Kranz is worthwhile.
But there is also a very good restaurant with a beer garden in Gnadental (Gnadentalstüberl)August 13, 2020
on nice weekends the nicer, especially not so crowded bike path as around Forggensee
