Orvelte presents itself as a museum village (or monument village), because of the many historical sites in and around the village. Cars are not allowed in Orvelte, making it an attractive walking / cycling area. In the village you can see how people lived and worked in times gone by. There is also a cobblestones smoke present in the village which makes orvelte very attractive for cycling enthusiasts.

Orvelte is a beautiful authentic Drents village. Because of it's authenticity it turned into something of a museum village, but it is still a 'normal' village. Benefit of being authentic is that it's forbidden for cars. You'll have to park on the edge of town and walk or ride your bike. Nice place to visit! Can be crowded though.
