    Large cairn in Tannenhausen
In 2014, the city of Aurich, with the support of archaeologists from the East Frisian landscape, had a large stone grave reconstructed with seven man-high boulders each weighing around five tons. In addition, a circular path was laid out and boards with information about the structure and significance of the megalithic tomb were erected.
It is assumed that the few Stone Age burial sites in East Friesland were destroyed in that time. The complex in Tannenhausen (approx. 3,500 BC) is therefore a vivid example of a megalithic tomb from the time of the Funnel Beaker Culture, and its dimensions are impressive for schoolchildren. The archaeological finds such as bowls, funnel beakers, shoulder vessels and collar flasks are exhibited in the Historical Museum in Aurich (museum-aurich.de/museum/grosssteingrab.html).
