As early as 1793, TROJA was mentioned in the official place register of the state calendar for Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The name probably comes from the Old Slavic word troj, the plural form for three.

TROJA is located 30 kilometers away from Ankershagen, the temporary residence of Heinrich Schliemann, the "discoverer" of ANCIENT TROY. However, TROJA (Müritz) was already mentioned in documents 29 years before Schliemann was born. So just a coincidence, but a somewhat strange and yet interesting story.
