The idea of building the "Zellertal Memorial" was born soon after the First World War and the memorial was officially inaugurated on July 15, 1928. It is dedicated to "the Palatinate and Hessian fallen soldiers as they fought and died together in enemy territory".Each of the 6 pillars of the pillared hall stands for a Zellertal community: Einselthum, Harxheim, Niefernheim, Zell, Mölsheim and Wachenheim. Due to its special location, its openwork, upward-pointing shape and its height of 15 meters and a diameter of 6.5 meters, it still has a special long-distance effect.Every year on the “Memorial Day” in November, citizens of all Zellertal communities meet for a joint commemoration ceremony for those who died in the two world wars.zellertal-aktiv.de/zellertaler-ehrenmal

As a memorial to the many dead, such memorials or war memorials are still very important today. "Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace, as you said." However, the people who are commemorated here did not divorce in peace, but became victims of war and tyranny.
Many of the places and monuments that you come across along the way are evidence of the horrors of war and tyranny, which is still relevant and relevant today. They all have two essential functions, and this for each new generation:
-1- Commemorate and remember the victims
-2- Remind to keep the peace
