Angers, capital of Anjou, is located directly on the Loire Valley. The city and surrounding area surprise visitors with extraordinary historical monuments, such as the Château d'Angers, and art treasures as well as a great quality of life.

In 1028, the Count of Anjou, Fulk Nerra, rebuilt this stone bridge spanning the Maine between the city and the other bank, which was not controlled by the city.
It was called the "Great Bridge".
As with other European bridges of the time, houses were gradually built here. The resulting street included water mills, fisheries and goldsmiths.
