With the closure of the railway line in 1979, the station in Hützemert lost its function as the center of the village and meeting place. Even today, platform lamps, the name board on the entrance building, the goods shed and old wagons are reminders that there was once a colorful hustle and bustle of people and goods here. In February 2008, the building was included in the city's list of monuments as the last surviving station building in the Drolshagen area.
