Beautiful collegiate church with benches in front for a break 👍

It is worth taking a closer look at this beautiful little town. Even the manhole covers are exceptional.

The manhole cover looks very nice. Unfortunately I didn't notice it, but it looks really great.

Freckenhorst, a small town about 3 km from Warendorf, has an imposing collegiate church and some older houses in the town centre. A buffer stop in the park in front of the northern entrance to the town reminds us that the Warendorf-Neubeckum railway station was located here until 1956. A baroque curved sandstone figurine of St. John Nepomuk from the 18th century Century is also there.

2nd weekend in October Freckenhorst Autumn. Junk and fair with a large marquee. The city center is then closed to cars. Highly recommended.

The parish church of St. Boniface in Freckendorf served as the church of the canonesses' convent, founded in 856, until 1811. The imposing western tower group and the flanking towers to the east of the former collegiate church still dominate the townscape today. The collegiate church forms the center of Freckenhorst. Particularly noteworthy are the Romanesque baptismal font and the crypt with the tomb of Geva. The collegiate chamber contains treasures from the history of the collegiate and church.
