The church is located in the fortress or old town of Valenca on the Caminho Português da Costa, the Portuguese Way of St. James. From the outside, the building is kept relatively simple in the Rococo style or late Baroque, but the interior is very beautiful with the side altars and the cupola in the apse.

Small Romanesque church dating from 1276 inside the fortified walls of Valença. Worth to explore the lavish interior! Directly adjacent is the Igreja da Misericórdia- Valença.
This baroque temple is also located on the “Largo de Santa Maria dos Anjos” within the walls of the fortified village of Valença do Minho. It was renovated into the XIX century in the neoclassic style. There is not much to see on the inside but it's free to have a quick look.
