The Vieux Chemin de Hal is the old connection from Nivelles to Halle. And that was built for the Nijvelsesteenweg. It lies here about 300m east of this historic stretch, in low-lying, swampy areas. And those were mostly avoided in the Middle Ages with unpaved roads. This Chemin de Hal follows the higher parts, in part even the watershed between the stream valleys.
