Road cycling

Every year in March, the storks return from their winter quarters in Spain or Portugal. And raising is (along with Diessen) one of their main goals in the area. There they move into their nests and begin to breed. The colony south of Lake Ammer is now the largest in Upper Bavaria, with 39 young birds fledged there in 2021. In 2022 I counted about 24 nests! A great spectacle that has been taking place for about 20 years. In midsummer, when the storks head south again, you can spot up to 100 white storks including migrants around Raisting.

There are really a lot of storks here - on the fields and meadows in the area and in the village itself there are many stork nests. One e.g. next to the fire station (near the train station)
