Built 1885-1888 according to plans by Conrad Wilhelm.
Christianity was forcibly imposed on the local residents by Emperor Charlemagne during the so-called Saxon Wars between 774 and 804. Most of the new churches (probably made of wood) were built on the old Germanic places of worship in order to protect the population from falling back into pagan customs. The church was built in the center of the old Riudium on a slight hill - the many tributaries of the Nette flowed around the building. The name "Lappenberg" could give a hint - this is the name of the field right next to the church. Some name researchers interpret it as a kind of cult place that was fenced off with rags, but others believe that it could only mean a mountain of rubbish. The location designation "Lappenberg" can often be found in the vicinity of churches and thus confirms the first assumption. The pagan Saxon cult site was probably surrounded by rags as a border.
