It is not the Alma colliery, but the former administration building of the Alma coking plant (but that is not so important either). Listed as a monument of remarkable industrial architecture, it has been decaying for years. A planned hotel project (as of 11/2022) only seems to exist in a few minds, but no longer really exists. Eventually the building will collapse or have to be demolished for safety reasons. Very unfortunate :-(

Road cycling

The former administration building is the last building of the Alma coking plant that still exists. The building by the well-known industrial architects Schupp and Kremer is a listed building, but unfortunately it is deteriorating and rotting more and more :-(. The building is dilapidated, access is denied by construction fences for security reasons.

Cycling

The Alma coking plant was built in 1927/28 on the then disused site of the Alma 1/2/5 colliery. It replaced outdated coking plants at the Rheinelbe and Pluto mines. In 1963 the coking plant was shut down.
