The chapel was built in 1870 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria in memory of his wife, Archduchess Auguste of Austria-Tuscany, who died in 1864. In 1982 the chapel was renovated as part of a citizens' campaign.

Great viewing point with benches and information board. Very nice place to enjoy sunset.
