The chapel was built in 1870 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria in memory of his wife, Archduchess Auguste of Austria-Tuscany, who died in 1864. In 1982 the chapel was renovated as part of a citizens' campaign.

Great viewing point with benches and information board. Very nice place to enjoy sunset.

There is no cycle path leading here, the best way to reach it is via Schulstrasse, if necessary push.
