The old war memorial at "Bockhorns" is a registered monument in Wehe next to the post mill and was erected in 1921. The ceremonial inauguration took place on May 15, 1921, the first day of Pentecost. The location was deliberately chosen because it is next to the peace oak tree from 1871 (which had to be felled in 2018 for security reasons), which was planted on the occasion of the 1871 peace treaty with France. With a total of 27 wagons, boulders were collected from all over Wehe, which were used for the construction of the monument. On the sides are stone slabs on which stand the soldiers of Woe who died in the wars of 1870-71 and the First World War of 1914-18. Originally there was a bronze eagle with flapping wings on top, but this has disappeared over the years. In 2000, on the initiative of the comradeship of former soldiers, the memorial was equipped with a new granite eagle. A further redesign and renovation took place, also initiated by the comradeship of former soldiers Wehe in 2014. In which the space around the monument, in coordination with the Bruhn family, the owners of the property, was designed "more openly" in order to better appreciate the to create areas. In addition to the redesign of the square, the monument was also repointed, benches and a flower box were installed. The project was accompanied by Wehe Aktiv and, in connection with the renewal of the village square, funds could be generated from the village renewal.
