Landrover tracks which follow the upper reaches of the River Don, great on a gravel bike or with some wider tyres on your road bike. I used 32c and it was fine, I rode the whole thing, but would have been more comfortable on wider tyres. There's a few tiny burns to ford.
Keep an eye out for golden eagles, buzzards, grouse, and deer - on the latter two, make sure you follow estate directions in stalking season, they're shown on a couple of signs.
There's a big steel gate just past the house at the start of the track at Inchrory in Glenavon, which is easy to miss as you think about how cool it would be to live there!
This track combined with the Glenavon estate road from Tomintoul provides a good way to access the Lecht climb from the south, when you're starting in the north - a fantastic loop, great fun.
Avon here (as in the river) is pronounced Aarn
