Location and history: The Lützelbach is located in the LSG Mittlere Schurwald in the communities of Baltmannsweiler and Reichenbach an der Fils in the district of Essingen in Baden-Württemberg.
Together with the Schanbach and the Gunzenbach, it belongs to a forest biotope with an alluvial forest in the virgin forest north-east of Plochingen. Mixed forest regulation was also used there in favor of alder over species such as beech and spruce. In addition, crabs and reptiles rarely live along its stream.
The Schanbach is an approximately 2.5 km long tributary to the Lützelbach.
The Lützelbach is also located in the Schachen forest reserve. Info on the Schachen Bann Forest a little further down.
The Lützelbach rises about 500 m southwest of Baltmannsweiler and flows about 4.0 km south to Reichenbach an der Fils, where it then flows into the Fils.
The Försterbrunnen and the Jakobsbrunnen are also located along its course.
A part of the stream also forms the border between the LSG areas Mittlerer Schurwald and Schurwaldrand-Altbach-Plochingen-Reichenbach.
