The mill is called "Bumblebee Windmill" in Dutch due to its short, thick body.

In 1972, the name "De Hommel" was invented by the Zaanse miller C. Krijt sr. That is a nice idea, because of the thick and short body, but historically incorrect. In the polder archive, the designation "De Kleine Molen" is always used. The mill drained the Kleine Polder. Source: molendatabase.nl/molens/ten-bruggencate-nr-01775
