Bagnall Old Hall is a Grade II listed building built in 1603 by John Moorhall and has quite an interesting history. According to local folklore elements of the Jacobite force, led by Bonnie Prince Charlie, quartered themselves in the village of Bagnall area during their 1745 campaign. Justice William Murhall, a county magistrate living at Bagnall Hall who had served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire just three years earlier in 1742. Was allegedly held prisoner in his own home, by the Jacobite's, having to pay a ransom to be released.
