Orvelte is an old esdorp that originated in the 10th century. The monumental farms and old clinkers and cobblestone roads give the village a historical atmosphere. An open air museum!

As a resident of this beautiful village, I have to set something straight. Orvelte is NOT a museum village. There is no entrance fee and at 5 o'clock no gate closes or door locked. This misunderstanding is persistent and rears its head time and time again. People live and work in the historic village, in that sense Orvelte can be compared to any other normal village in the Netherlands. Orvelte does have a large number of monumental farms within its village limits. So I would rather choose to call Orvelte a monument village. A beautiful monument village, that's for sure.A proud resident of Orvelte

In this village is lived and worked quite normal, so you can experience history up close. Small shops and cafes invite you to take a leisurely break and in the middle of the village there are now and then markets and events.
