According to an inscription, the church was consecrated in 1481. However, the church patron St. Martin points to an older origin. Before the Reformation, the Gechingen church belonged to the Weil der Stadt chapter of the Speyer diocese. In the course of the Reformation in Württemberg, the church came to the deanery of Calw. In 1561 the church was damaged by lightning. In 1743 there was a major renovation. In 1865/67 there was another renovation, during which the nave received its present form. Since this made the tower look a bit low, it was raised from 24 to 42 meters in 1875. In 1893 the church received heating, in 1914 electric light. Badly damaged in World War II, the church was completely renovated in 1953/54.
