The Kreuzenstein hilltop castle rises impressively above Leobendorf on a hill in the Rohrwald forest. The location was strategically important due to its elevated position, the altitude is 266 m above sea level, the height above the Danube is about 100 m. The castle was reconstructed in the 19th century on the ruins of an earlier castle and houses a large collection of historical weapons, furniture and works of art. Today it is perfect for panoramic views of the region and is a popular tourist attraction with a medieval flair. A very beautiful sight and also a worthwhile destination for a bike tour.
