The Palace of the Captain of the Sea is a historic building constructed by the Scaligeri and renovated in the 15th century in Venetian Gothic style. This ancient residence of the Scaligeri and the Sea Captain was declared a National Monument in 1902.

Very nice building with a wonderful garden located directly on the shore of Lake Garda.
The palace was built between the 13th and 14th centuries by the Scaligeri over Roman and Romanesque ruins. After being destroyed, probably by an earthquake or fire, it became the property of Francesco Mercanti of Verona. On December 18, 1473, his sons sold it to Alessandro Miniscalchi. The bill of sale, dated 1477, shows that the building had already been renovated and lavishly decorated in the Venetian style.
In 1618, by order of the Republic of Venice, the city of Verona bought the palace, which became the residence of the captain of the sea. Many modernizations were made during this period.
