Objective: rebuild the peace corner of Sant Martí del Montnegre
16/03/2016A year ago the place suffered a vandal attack and now the Amics de Santa Maria entity, headed by Francesc Vivas from Calella, wants the corner to show off its splendor again.Francesc Vivas, a lover of the mountain range and who spearheaded the reconstruction of the hermitage of Santa Maria del Montnegre, has explained that with a hammer blow some brats destroyed the "corner of peace of Sant Francesc d'Assís" and they took the image of the saint away, thinking it had more economic value than it really did. Vivas: "There was a pedestal, and on top of it was an image of Saint Francis that had been there for about 50 years. The image was looking up at the sky and praying. The sculpture was about one and a half meters tall and had a patina that appeared to be bronze. Then one night they came with mallets - these very big hammers - and they destroyed the pedestal and with the boom of a crane they took the image, which is now completely lost".From October 4, 2023 we can once again enjoy the Raco de la Pau

Sant Martí de Montnegre is a church in Sant Celoni (Vallès Oriental) included in the Architectural Heritage Inventory of Catalonia. It is located on the northern slopes of the Montnegre massif, at an altitude of about 467 meters. Walled, plastered and whitewashed religious building. It has a rectangular bell tower, with four hollows for the bells, half-point, on a simple cornice, which divides the two bodies. There is another cornice above the gaps and, still above, battlements (Catalan style). A pyramidal body crowns the tower. The cover is of lowered arch and with continuous molding between the uprights and of the arch. There is a bull's eye built in 1610. It has a single nave and two chapels on each side. The central nave has four spans of half barrel vault. The apse has a half-orange vault. Masonry walls and cement vaults. The current church is the work of the 17th-18th centuries.
