The new complex for the Kalk fire brigade center consists of three building parts. These are arranged around a training and depot. The old fire and rescue station on Gießener Straße from 1911 was replaced by the new building. Renovating the old buildings would not have been economical. Some of them date back to the 1950s. They were very cramped and in a bad structural condition. In addition, the location did not offer enough space to house a modern fire department.
