Mining town Kupferberg (Měděnec) at the foot of the 910 m high Mědník (Kupferhübel) or on the edge of the southern slope of the Ore Mountains into the Bohemian Basin and the Egergraben; first mentioned in documents in 1449, elevated to mining town status in 1588, after the ransom in 1616 a royal free mining town; the typical rectangular market square with town hall and the town church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is worth seeing; Kupferberg (Měděnec) and the Kupferhübel (Mědník) are part of the UNESCO mining region of the Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří with a mining history dating back to the 10th century (primarily silver-containing copper ores); Also worth seeing in this context are the baroque chapel "To the Immaculate Conception of Mary" on the summit of the Kupferberg, the visitor mine "Mariahilfstolln" (Marie Pomocná) as well as the visitor mine "Gelobtes Land Stolln" not far from the "Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus" on its flanks;
