Chapel of the Madonna of Monteserico

A few hundred steps from the drawbridge, on the esplanade of the Castle, there is an unadorned chapel in which, once every Sunday (1), now once a year, a Priest of Genzano, since the disappearance of the Borgo, goes to celebrate the Holy Mass. Around the humble Sanctuary, on the only rough stone altar, there was a painting depicting the Annunciation, a painting on canvas by an unknown artist but of no little artistic value, which had been replaced for some decades, it is not known by whom, with a painting of those that are sold for a few lire by street vendors. The Image festival was and is considered to be miraculous and adored as the protector of the vast territory. The chapel, with its barrel vault, does not present anything noteworthy, below a ramshackle confessional there is a small hatch leading to the ossuary below.
