The Crossing Monument commemorates the crossing on the night of October 5 to 6, 1568 across the Maas in Obbicht by William of Orange and his troops. It is made of South African palla granite stone; the base plate has the shape of an open book. A gate and a wing rise from the book. There are wild geese on the wing. The gate refers to the crossing of the past and the freedom and boundlessness of now and the future.
