Ponte del Casotto is a characteristic bridge that crosses the Verde stream in the city of Pontremoli.
It is located in the area of the medieval village, approximately at the end of via Cavour, at the crossroads with via Bologna.
The original construction included a wooden bridge, which was reinforced with a massive stone and brick structure at the end of the 14th century. We have news of an almost total collapse of the bridge in 1568, following a violent flood of the Verde.
The bridge leads to one of the towers that were part of the ancient city defense system, the Casotto tower, from which we owe the name.
Today it presents itself as a crossing as imposing in its vertical development, with the grandiose central arch, as narrow in width, hosting a small passage paved with cobblestones.
