Strolled along there many years ago and didn't see it. 🙈
Man must first age to perceive these historical places.

The 1764 square meter Jewish cemetery in the Bönninghardter Heide (Xantener Weg) can be reached from the main road via a forest path, it is right on the edge of the forest. The route is signposted from Weseler Straße (Bundesstraße B 58).

Although the oldest surviving tombstones date from 1829 and 1831, the cemetery is said to have been laid out around 1838. It was occupied until 1931 and used by the Jews of Geldern until 1866, when they received their own cemetery (Reuter 2007).

The burial ground, which is not locked, is surrounded by a fence with a small gate and is lined with bushes and trees. The plot, which rises in a northwesterly direction, makes a very well-kept impression (site visit on April 20, 2016).
26 tombstones have been preserved here (own census, as well as steinheim-institut.de with "26 preserved tombstones from the years 1829 to 1931", different from uni-heidelberg.de, where 25 tombstones are mentioned). 26 inscriptions from the years 1829 to 1931 are documented in the epidat database of the Steinheim Institute in Essen.

Jewish Cemetery. It was created in 1838. The last burial took place in 1931. there are no more burials and unfortunately the grave inscriptions are badly weathered and therefore no longer legible. Regrettable
