The 1929 Grob crusher was custom built in Sweden and was capable of crushing rocks up to 1m in diameter. Each of the individual parts weighed at least 7 tons. It took 14 truck trips to get the parts from the Kyrkjebygda railway station to the mine. This Grob smasher was accidentally blown up in the 1930's when a 15kg sack of dynamite fell into it.
