It was one of the routes that linked the Chianti to the Valdarno. Halfway through the small village of Casignano with the 12th century parish church of San Lorenzo. and the adjacent hospital to welcome recently restored travelers and pilgrims. The upper part of the route is now a path (CAI n. 29) which ends in the abandoned zoological park of Cavriglia.
