The monument in the photo refers to Luigi Orlando, an engineer, politician and entrepreneur of Sicilian origin who, after moving to Genoa (where he directed the Arsenal), settled in Livorno and here, in the 1860s, with his brothers he took over and he modernized a modest pre-existing shipyard which took the name of Cantiere Orlando from him, becoming one of the most important in the Mediterranean.
