Michael (Hebrew מיכאל; Arabic ميكائيل/ميكال DMG "Mīkā'īl" or "Mīkāl", German "Who is like God?") is an archangel according to the Tanakh and occurs in the traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Unlike in Christianity, the angel Michael in Judaism is never provided with "attributes of divinity."[1] In the New Testament Revelation of John, Michael appears in an eschatological context as the conqueror of Satan, whom he casts down to earth (Rev 12:7-9 EU). After the victorious battle on the Lechfeld on August 10, 955, the Archangel was declared the patron saint of East Francia and later Germany.

[1] Before 1945 it was in Germany. It is approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) north of Lwówek Śląski and 105 km (65 miles) west of the district capital of Wrocław.
