The mill was built in 1875 for the miller family De Visscher who also owned a water mill dating from 1651. The watermill served as a reserve for the windless days when it was not possible to grind with the windmill. In 1903 the family sold the watermill to J. Botermans, who immediately shut down the watermill and later had it demolished.

In 1944 the mill was badly damaged by German artillery fire. Shortly after the liberation, recovery followed. The mill remained in operation until 1961.
